What is at stake for Russia on the road of struggle for real independence and sovereignty — this says the famous philosopher Alexander Dugin.

culture: the World reeling. Russia no longer wants to live at the behest of the West, and recalls the rebellious colony. Do you agree with this assessment?

Dugin: I love this metaphor. The situation is in a certain sense it is. In a unipolar world in which we lived until recently, to defend a multipolar world — this is a riot. America seeks to maintain its hegemony, expressed in the form of globalization: all Nations imposed a unified system of rules and values. Russia is challenging this hegemony. There is a concept of epistemology, the science of knowledge. Its meaning is that he who controls knowledge controls everything, the man is completely controlled by the power that establishes the parameters of reality. Now Russia is in an epistemological occupation. That’s where we are. There are visible signs of normal occupation: administration, lack of sovereignty, the colonial administration, the lack of armed forces. But an epistemological occupation happens when a society or country are in the conceptual or intellectual dependence on the hegemon. Russia lives by liberal Constitution, copied from Western models, guided by liberal principles of economy, imposed upon us by the West. Should liberal attitudes in culture and education. We live in a liberal dictatorship. If the person does not recognize the norms and dogmas of liberalism,he is marked as a rebel. And today we can say that we are dealing with the uprising in the epistemological prison. Russia insists on its sovereignty, its freedom, respond to calls, which give her, for example, in Ukraine. She tries to integrate the post-Soviet space, to defend its national interests in the new Russia, causing a storm of protest in the West, moving closer to the other BRICS countries. Builds on asymmetric alliances. But the problem is that the liberal Western model is already ingrained in our society. They largely determined the consciousness of our economic, political and administrative elite.

culture: the Elites — the weakest link of Russia?

Dugin: Most of them are loyal to the President. But this is a superficial loyalty. They are in the depths of his liberal stitched matrix, are the bearers of the liberal virus that determines their consciousness, and shows this path to all Russian society. The society opposes this. It supports Putin, is trying to counter their attacks, the war is very serious. Our struggle for a multipolar world resembles the revolt of Spartacus. The epistemological revolt of the colonies against the global oligarchy, which on a number of parameters keeps us under its control. The uprising and is headed by Putin. But the drama that we’re not sure if we have enough strength, determination. We do not understand how deeply liberal totalitarianism struck our nerve centers, have penetrated the consciousness of people. And how serious and dangerous this occupation. Only the most radical, marginal segment of this liberal occupation outline oppose Putin openly, in the face of “fifth column” on the March of traitors. The main part is inside. It is built into the system of Russian state control since the 90-ies, and maybe before. I call it the “sixth column”. We need to fight both the fifth and sixth columns.

culture: talking about “great Russia”, about the great challenges that should be put before the Russian people. Isn’t there “game with Messianic fire”? What loopholes we want to quit?

Dugin: I believe that the high idea is the core of Russian identity. We have always considered yourself a people endowed with a historic mission. And any reference to the subject always finds a broad response in the hearts of people. Maybe not all of this thinking, but it determines our culture. All that is valuable to us, was full of this Messianic sense: the Church and literature of the XIX century, Russian religious philosophy, and the Silver age. We are Messianic people. And whenever the government or politicians use this early, they get a positive response. The liberal elite are very afraid of this topic. Whenever it occurs in the political discourse, liberals are trying to ridicule, suppress the impulse. In my opinion, Messianic fire is the essence of our great, high and deep thing. “Russian spring” was also a Messianic movement of our people. And as she took up arms against the liberal elites! Any appeal to Putin to this thread mercilessly ojaveda. But the Messianic fire will inevitably flare up again. Throughout history, we had issued its Messianic sense in the context of Orthodox, secular, Communist. But we have never forgotten our essence. And only a totalitarian liberal ideology was trying to uproot all forms of Russian messianism: white, red, and religious, and Communist. But they did not succeed. Messianic argument — he’s a key and main. When Russia’s political establishment refer to this “instance,” they always do the right thing. They Wake us up, return to our essence.

culture: the Problem is that we have no vision of the future. Or the role of the “Russian dream” can claim the new Russia. What do You think?

Dugin: We have no vision of the future in the form feature concept. But the image we carry in our soul. He’s just not born. We are fraught with them. It is a way of spirituality and justice. There are two things which determine the identity of the Russian people. It is his desire to tell the spiritual, the important word is the word of salvation, truth, goodness — in the historical path of Russia. It is important for us to have the last word in world history left for us. And below it was the word of spirit and beauty, not the ugliness of the word and matter of pragmatism. On the one hand. And with another — is important for us social justice.Russian society does not think of itself in terms of capitalism, in terms of individualism, the fragmentation of society into atoms. And we understand freedom not as the Nations of the West. The subject for us is the team all our people — that’s who should be free. That is why we are ready to sacrifice themselves for the common good. Freedom without justice is meaningless to us and incomprehensible. The new Russia has become for us a symbol of this vision of the future. When we say Novorossiya — our utopia, it is not. This image is quite clear. He’s already indicated in the first outline of the Constitution of new Russia, in the approval of the traditional family, of Orthodoxy as the state religion, the attempts to nationalize the private big capital. Of course, the new Russia was attacked by the most inveterate representatives of the “sixth column” is the most devastating effective managers of the liberal segment. But the fight is far from over. The image of the future of the new Russia is the Russian image of the future. The victory of spirit over matter, transformation of matter in the name of the blessed and Holy purpose. And social justice.Of these two parts is the image of Russian future, which shone in the new Russia. But the global liberal network does not sleep. There is a war. This is not our war, it was imposed upon us. But we made it their Holy war. We climbed to the protection of the Russian world. Now Russian blood that flows there on a daily basis, including the blood of innocent children, women, it awakens in us the will of the ancient, the ancient voice of our history, our essence. This is a terrible ritual. When we see enemies that destroy our people, and I can’t rebuff, it’s impossible to survive. The struggle for the Russian world will continue.

culture: Commander-in-chief of the armed forces of Novorossiya Igor Strelkov, when he returned to Russia, warned that a possible revolt against Putin. Such a danger exists?

Dugin: Rebellion against Putin is not only possible, but very probable. His opponents in the West wants global government, the representatives of global liberal media. Putin as rebels against the world hegemony hero, it stands for the people. But not political institutions. It is surrounded by Russophobic elites are traitors. This is his drama. Overthrow Putin can go in cynical and vile scenario. The pressure on him from different flanks. Liberals, for all their activity and financial capabilities themselves can’t do anything — they are too few. They need to bring in the opposition camp of the patriots. Doing “the sixth column” which insists that “merge” the new Russia. That stirred up the patriots, and they will oppose the President. This calculation is done. A terrible scenario. So it was not carried out, we need to pass between Scylla and Charybdis. It understands and so does Igor Strelkov, and any true patriot.

culture: We used to say that Russia has only two allies — the army and Navy. And still, in what countries can we count as partners?

Dugin: We may have many allies. We are people who gravitate to a multipolar world. And it’s not a single party or the country but the entire continent. Latin America itself thinks only as part of a multi-polar world. India and China — its natural pole. And even the peoples of Europe, who also do not fully agree with American hegemony, are our supporters. And our opponents — political liberal elite. They rule, but are enemies of their own peoples, because they are not acting in their best interests and in the interests of global financial oligarchy. Therefore, ordinary people in many countries are our natural allies. To have a good Navy and army, trusted diplomats, it is necessary to strike a crushing blow on the columns that are inside of Russian society and sabotage many of the positive processes.

culture: How do You assess the prospects for Eurasian integration?

Dugin: We will not be able to become a pole of a multipolar world, if Russia will not unite post-Soviet countries. Only restoring Great Russia-Eurasian Union, we can become a full-fledged global player. Now these processes are very much slowed down. The Ukrainian Maidan was the response of the West to promote Russian integration. Now, after the annexation of Crimea and the unresolved situation in the new Russia, Russia has become more difficult to carry out these processes. However, it is our goal, our horizon. We need to work towards it tirelessly.
