Military implications of the talks in Astana | Colonel Cassad

Organized by Russia and Turkey, talks in Astana on Syria ended on 24 January with two results. The first, of a diplomatic nature, was the statement in which these two States and Iran agree to strengthen the fragile truce, approved in late December, after the capture of Aleppo by the government forces.Second, the military result was the resumption of fighting between moderate rebels and jihadists in the provinces of Idlib and Aleppo: they are sharply intensified, reaching an unprecedented three year mark. This is one of the unwritten rules of the Syrian crisis: lull in fighting rebels and loyalists means the rise of the bloodshed in the camp of Assad’s opponents.

“The Stop Arming Terrorists Act” | Tulsi Gabbard

“This madness must end. We must stop arming terrorists. The Government must end this hypocrisy and abide by the same laws that apply to its’ citizens.

“That is why I’ve introduced the Stop Arming Terrorists bill—legislation based on congressional action during the Iran-Contra affair to stop the CIA’s illegal arming of rebels in Nicaragua. It will prohibit any Federal agency from using taxpayer dollars to provide weapons, cash, intelligence, or any support to al-Qaeda, ISIS and other terrorist groups, and it will prohibit the government from funneling money and weapons through other countries who are directly or indirectly supporting terrorists,” concluded Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.

1 Year of the war in Syria | Colonel Cassad

Enlisting a year ago in the Syrian war, Russia was not there as an extra and became one of its Central actors, forcing others to cave in under the changeable situation in Syria. And that surprised many, the US proved it is absolutely not ready. Hysterical note in the statements from Washington give a strong dissatisfaction with what is happening in Syria. The country was relieved of the threat of defeat Assad, and in 2016 the U.S. has failed to achieve its General objectives in Syria. The “Arab spring” was finally buried, and the expansion of the Caliphate was stopped. It shows all external players, who had to come out from behind the scenes of the Syrian war. All this was achieved relatively modest forces at acceptable losses.

Syria of course is not the only front between the US and Russia, but objectively it has become as important as the war in Ukraine, for it is the front of the same war that so far it is a “proxy war”, as behind the armies of Syria and Donbass is Russia, and behind the Syrian jihadists, and APU are the United States, and developments on these fronts determine the further course of the confrontation, which is growing before our eyes. Russia has no possibility of evasion. The choice in 2014 is quite simple – fight or surrender. What choice was made, quite possible to estimate the intensity of the accusations against Russia for its actions in Syria, which once again proves that the decision to join the Syrian war was correct.

Thus cut road through Ramouse and complicated situation of the troops defending the technical College on the basis of the artillery and troops holding the quarter Ramouse.
To supply the encircled grouping in this hallway of course does not work, so hit the corridor, the rebels will try to extend to other classes the remaining part of the artillery base, quarter Ramouse and cement plant.

First, the enemy from Aleppo went to the area of the garages at the track, and then across the vacant lot to the East of the artillery Academy of the assault team were remaining 400-500 meters and formally struck the corridor. Syrian sources claim that the militants are more in a hurry and garages now there is a fight, so to talk about the message with Aleppo still early, but the fact that fighting in these garages suggests that the defense in the area of artillery base is at the limit and without serious countermeasures to restore the situation will be difficult. For SAA is a serious tactical failure, which may have operational implications if in the next couple of days due to enter into battle the reserves transferred, there is no progress in the battle for artillery Academy.
