On Thursday, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies announced start of the Operation “Grand Dawn” in eastern Syria. The aim of the operation is to expel militants from the eastern desert and to set a foothold for a push to Deir Ezzor. The declaration followed a major success of government forces in southeastern Homs where they had liberated about 5,000 km2 and got a full control over the Damascus-Palmyra highway.

A raid on the Khanasser-Aleppo road | Colonel Cassad

Yesterday, the Caliphate launched a traditional raid on the Khanasser-Aleppo road. Mobile groups of fighters moving to the North from Itria were able to take a few half-backs and roadblocks, plunder some booty and short to reach the outskirts of the road. Traditionally, the militants were able to achieve tactical surprise. 2S19 Msta-S Self-Propelled Howitzer In Syria | Southfront

From the newly appeared photo it’s possible to see that the howitzer is deployed is a desert area, meaning it’s somehwere in the coountryside of Palmyra or north of Suweida. It’s not known yet if the 2S19 Msta-S is operated by Russian or Syrian crews. However, it’s worth mentioning that Russia did hand over dozens of T-90A main battle tanks to the SAA and all of them is operated by the SAA.

Russian Air Force Supporting Syrian Army on Al-Tanf Front | Russia Insider

Syrian forces advancing toward the US-rebel base on the Syrian-Iraqi border have brand new Russian gear and quite possibly Russian personnel to go with it. Last Thursday the US bombed Syrian troops approaching al-Tanf. Rather than withdraw, the Syrians decided they would advance in a slightly different direction so as to outflank and isolate the main US-rebel installation in the southern Syrian desert.
