With the terror group increasingly losing ground and momentum in both Syria and Iraq, ISIS has reportedly executed 21 of its own warlords in its de facto capital of Al-Raqqa, Syria, during April only. Local activists from the group’s stronghold confirmed the news, adding that a number of military commanders have been also relocated to Iraq. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that an ISIS commander of a Moroccan nationality was among the executed.

Some of these advisors are personnel belonging to Russia’s most secretive military organization: the Special Operations Forces Command (Komandovaniye Sil Spetsial’nykh Operatsiy—KSSO). These forces are acclaimed for their roles in seizing Crimea and, more recently, for their involvement in operations in Syria.
